| Volunteer Position Description |

Wednesdays, from 9:00am-10:10am &/or from 11:20am-1:10pm, &/or 2:20pm-3:30pm
Fridays, from 9:00am-10:10am.
We are a Centre that works with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities 3 days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) at the Loyola campus of Concordia University. Our participants have creative arts therapies twice/day from 10:00-11:30am, and from 1:00-2:30pm. The other times are our “community” times and this is when volunteers play a vital role. Volunteers are a very important part of our program!
The role of volunteers is to help the Centre fulfill its mandate of social inclusion by facilitating the integration of our participants into the Concordia community. This is done through socializing with our participants during three different time periods; mornings, lunch times, and afternoons.
Volunteers greet our participants as they arrive in the morning and then accompany them to a different building where they meet with the facilitators of their therapeutic program. At lunch time, volunteers accompany our participants from their therapeutic activities to the cafeteria, located in a different building. Lunch time is spent socializing together, and then volunteers accompany our participants back to the building where therapeutic activities take place. At the end of the day, volunteers accompany our participants back from their therapeutic activities to the building where they socialize as they await their taxis back home.
This volunteering opportunity is active, you’ll get your steps while you gain experience!
Volunteers are not expected to be therapists, and although experience with this population is great, it is not necessary.
Volunteers are well supported in this volunteering role. All applicants are welcome.
We ask that you commit to a regular schedule, the hours available are:
Mornings 9:00–10:00am
Lunch 11:30am-1:00pm
Afternoon 2:30-3:30pm
You are welcome to apply for one of more of these time periods.
The days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Feel free to apply for one or more days.
