Welfare Avenue: Volunteer - Help The Homeless

Volunteer Position Description Welfare Avenue is a Non-Profit Organization with the goal of helping the homeless community of Montreal. We offer several volunteering opportunities: Servers are responsible for: -Dressing accordingly depending on the weather condition - Introducing themselves to other volunteers -Help set up the tent, tables and the general set up for serving directed by the team leader. -Serving either food, water, giving utensils, cleaning the table, putting items back in the correct bin etc. (directed by Team Leader) Drivers are responsible for: - Collecting all essential items at the storage unit for the event to run smoothly. (This includes Tents, tables, water jugs, the speaker, bins [server setup, set up 1, set up 2, clean up, dirty dishes (grey), and personal belongings (purple)] - Collect food from cooks by following the route trajectory. - Drop off all equipment and food at Place Emilie Gamelin and help unload the equipment for servers to set up. - Once the event is finished, load all equipment back into the car and bring them back to the storage unit. - Ensure the driver's car is clean and set up to for the collected items from the storage unit - The car needs to be big enough to fit all necessary items Cooks are responsible for: -Cook food for approximately 30 ? 50 people. (must state ingredients on the container) -We can provide recipes if volunteers are not sure what to cook. -We also provide ingredient-delivering services using Instacart. (First time cooks must pay for their ingredients and tray. If they volunteer as a cook for a second time, we can reimburse them for their ingredients for up to $50) -Cooks must provide their address so the driver can pick up the food or they can bring it to Berri. The team leader is responsible for: - Being punctual at the storage unit and ensuring correct equipment is collected and accounted for - Ensure all the material is restocked - know what is in each bin (server setup 1 and 2, etc.) - Help unload and load the car during the event - Check the correct route trajectory and call the cook 10 minutes before arrival at their home. - Use the group chat with volunteers to coordinate arrival to Berri - Making sure the event runs smoothly and everything is set up properly in the way Welfare Avenue expects it to be. - Directing volunteers and delegating tasks - Ensure each server is given a task (serving food, giving water, giving utensils, etc.) - Help take down the setup and encourage volunteers to do so as well. - Helping the driver load their car and bring all equipment back after the event. - Fill out the audit sheet so we can evaluate if the event went well.
