Volunteer Position Description |
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe environment to the participants of the groups
- Ensure the smooth running of groups
- Assist animators/co-animators with any needs
- Educate oneself about each subject that will be covered in every session
- Adopt a professional approach during groups
- Possess a familiarity with approaches including feminism, trauma-informed care, and
intersectionality.
- Effective communication skills with victims of conjugal violence
- Work in collaboration with the group's animators
- Work closely with the volunteer's coordinator
- Education/experience in education, specialized education, youth animation, social
intervention is required
- Creativity and enthusiasm
- Infant First Aid and CPR is an asset
- Effective communication skills with children exposed to conjugal violence
- Be consistent and regular (2 or 3 a month).
- Be proactive and reliable

The shelter's address will remain confidential for safety and security reasons, it will be given upon the first scheduled training.
As this is a shelter for women who have often experienced intimate partner violence from male perpetrators, only non-male identifying people will be accepted as volunteers for roles within the residence. |
