| Volunteer Position Description |
Our day camp is called "Mini Camp" and occurs from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in July and August 2024. The goal of this camp is for children 6-11 years old to play games while practicing their french speaking skills. For most children in our community, French is their third language, but they have to go to a French elementary school. Therefore, Mini Camp is their opportunity to practice French in a social context, through different activities. These activities include: team sports, playing outside, doing art workshops, going to the museum, doing cooking workshops, gardening, etc. As a volunteer, your job would never be to organise an activity but rather to support the animator and to speak to the children in French. |

| Volunteer Position Requirements |
As a volunteer, your job would never be to organise an activity but rather to support the animator and to speak to the children in French (which is why we require that volunteers speak beginner-level French). Since you would be working with children, we would also need to complete a police background check that would require that you bring 2 pieces of ID (this is a requirement for all library volunteers).
Since Mini Camp starts at 10:00 am, we ask that volunteers arrive at 9:30 am to get an overview of the day ahead and to greet children as they arrive. What's most helpful is for volunteers to commit to coming 2-3 days per week on either Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm. However, please reach out if you are only available on one of these days. |
