Volunteer Opportunity

Quebec Association for People with Aphasia (AQPA): Assistant language stimulation workshops

Volunteer Position Description The “Association québécoise des personnes aphasiques” (AQPA) is looking for volunteers to assist language stimulation workshops in French and English. Volunteers with more experience may eventually get the opportunity to be in charge of the group facilitation. The AQPA is a Community Organization whose primary goal is to help people with aphasia overcome social isolation. Aphasia is a language disorder commonly caused by a stroke, head trauma or a tumor. It can cause communication difficulties in daily activities and thus prevent them from enjoying life fully. The volunteers are expected to communicate with members informally before and after the workshops, assist the members with their coats, canes, etc, help out with adapted transport and assist the group facilitator with the actual group leading.
