Books Come Alive is a training and implementation program for guardians, parents, caregivers, learners who are involved with kids and in youth lives. You are trained online and required to create workshops online, in-person, or both to complete your certificate. You have the choice of being compensated 15$ an hour for each attended training and literacy workshop you create to the youth in Montreal but it will not be volunteering. Also, every kid in Montreal who attends your workshops will go home with their own free book to keep. You are welcome to register here to attend an information session; please read carefully: |

The volunteers would aid in meal preparation to serve lunch to 400+ students. This includes tasks such as peeling/chopping vegetables, mixing salad, washing fruit and vegetables. The meal preparation happens Mondays-Thursdays from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. From 12:30-2:00 PM, we need servers and people to start the clean-up. No skills or previous experience is required. Minimum time commitment of 30 minutes. |

The volunteers would aid in cleaning up after the lunch service. This could include tasks such as washing and putting away dishes, sweeping and mopping, wiping down the counters and other surfaces. Clean-up happens Monday to Thursday from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM. No skills or previous experience is required. There is a minimum time commitment of 30 minutes, and volunteers can stay for as long as they like. |

The ICU Bridge Program provides University students the opportunity to volunteer and shadow in 4 of Montreal's Intensive Care Unit (Montreal General, Jewish General, Royal Victoria, and the Montreal Children's Hospitals' ICUs). These volunteers help limit the mental health impact that the ICU has on staff, patients, and families through increased increased communication, heartfelt gesture and an innovative electronic ICU diary program provided by university volunteers. In addition, the experiences gained by our volunteers help shape our future healthcare practitioners! |

The Teapot, is currently seeking several volunteers to assist with our grocery shopping program for local seniors who are unable to shop by themselves. Volunteers receive the names of several members living in Lachine who are unable to shop for groceries for themselves. Calls are made to the members between Monday morning and Wednesday at noon to take down their detailed grocery lists in a Google Doc. These lists are then printed by our Program Support Worker and brought to the grocery store on Friday morning, where another group of volunteers will fulfill the orders. |

Katimavik's National Experience Program |
Katimavik’s National Experience is an amazing opportunity for Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed refugees ages 17-25 who are looking to enhance their lives through creative learning, community engagement and self-discovery. During this 5.5-month program, groups of 11 diverse youth will have the opportunity to discover 2 Canadian communities. Throughout this time, they will contribute up to 32 hours of valuable volunteer work a week, engage in Truth learning and active Reconciliation, and develop competencies related to Civic Engagement, Employability and Self Determination. As individuals they will develop independent living skills by taking turns managing a household, and gain confidence that they themselves can make an impactful difference in our country. They will navigate through challenging new situations which help empower them and enhance resiliency as individuals and as a group, whilst contributing to their local community and creating life-long friendships. This is a fully funded opportunity where participants’ travel expenses, living accommodations, food costs, and daily needs are covered. All they will need to bring is their dedication, empathy, and commitment to making a better world! |
